Sustainable Navigation in Paris

Sustainable Navigation in Paris: The New Electric Boat from Compagnie des Bateaux à Roue In Paris, on the waters of the Seine, Compagnie des Bateaux à Roue has presented its latest jewel: Héméra, a modern vessel that combines elegance, innovation and respect for the environment. This boat represents an absolute novelty, being entirely electric and equipped with cutting-edge technologies that minimize its environmental impact.

A historic step towards sustainability

Compagnie des Bateaux à Roue, part of the Esprit Seine group, is known for its private cruise services and floating restaurants. With the inauguration of Héméra, the company is positioning itself as once of the leader in the ecological transition process, inaugurating the first entirely electric boat to navigate the Seine. Launched in June 2024, in view of the Paris Olympic Games, the boat was built in the Haute-Seine shipyards, in the Paris suburbs.
Héméra joins a fleet of seven diesel units and a floating structure, the Maison Jaune restaurant. This new 39-meter-long boat stands out for its innovative technologies, such as two electric motors and an aquathermal air conditioning system. These solutions not only offer ecological benefits, but also significantly reduce noise pollution. we can say that, after careful tests, the noise from electric motors is less intense than diesel ones and fully complies to existing noise regulations.

Héméra’s capacities and uses

Héméra offers a unique experience to passengers, being able to accommodate up to 40 people seated or 60 in cocktail mode. The boat has two outdoor terraces and is ideal for events such as cocktails, dinners, business seminars or private celebrations, including weddings. The boat has an autonomy of up to four hours, enough for two and a half hour cruises.

An evolving sector

Héméra is not the only initiative towards decarbonization in the river cruise sector in Paris. Transfluid has been able to participate in other projects of electrification and hybridization of certain passenger, work, patrol and other vessels, on other French rivers, seas and beyond, confirming a growing trend towards more sustainable navigation.
On board Héméra we find a electric propulsion system developed by Transfluid, an Italian leader in sustainable propulsion solutions. This system allows for operation in fully electric mode, flexibility and energy efficiency, allowing for greater environmental respect especially in urban areas and protected areas. With this new vessel, it demonstrates how tradition and innovation can coexist, offering an ecological and modern cruising experience. Héméra, along with other projects we have followed, represent a model for the future of river navigation, combining advanced technology and respect for the environment, to make the Seine an example of sustainability in the heart of Paris.
